Last summer, my friend Leo and I decided to visit Edinburgh. We live in London, so we planned to take the train. We booked our tickets online a few weeks before to get a cheaper price.

The Train Journey
On the day of our journey, we took the metro to King's Cross Station. The railway station was huge and very busy. We looked at the big departure board to find our train. "Edinburgh, platform 8," Leo read out.
We had quite heavy suitcases, so we walked carefully through the crowd. We found platform 8 and saw our train waiting. It looked long and modern. We found our coach, number D, and got on. Finding our reserved seats was easy. We put our suitcases on the luggage rack above the seats.
The train left exactly on time. Soon, we were travelling fast through the countryside. We passed fields, towns, and crossed over rivers on bridges. The journey was going to take about four and a half hours.
We bought some sandwiches and drinks from the buffet car on the train. We chatted, read our books, and looked out of the window. The view was really nice, especially when we got closer to Scotland and saw some hills.
Somewhere near Newcastle, the train stopped for a few minutes. Some passengers got off, and new passengers got on. Then we continued our journey north.
We arrived at Waverley Station in Edinburgh in the afternoon. We collected our luggage and got off the train. We walked out of the station into the city. Our hotel was quite close, so we decided to walk. We used a map on Leo's phone to find the way.
The train journey was a great way to travel. It was much more relaxing than driving on the motorway, and we didn't have to worry about traffic or finding a car park. It felt like part of the adventure. We had a fantastic trip exploring Edinburgh.
