It was a cold winter day. I was wearing my favourite scarf. It wasn't expensive, but I loved it because my aunt gave it to me. It was long and quite wide, maybe 20 centimetres wide and nearly 2 metres long! The best part was the colour. It was a beautiful deep purple colour, my favourite. It was made of soft wool.
I went into town to do some shopping. I bought a birthday card for my sister and a pair of new gloves because my old ones had a hole. The new gloves were dark grey.
After shopping, I met my friend Anna for coffee. We sat in a warm café and enjoyed chatting and laughing. I took off my coat and my purple scarf and put them on one of the chairs next to our table. We had hot chocolate in big round mugs.
About an hour later, I looked at my watch. "Oh! I need to go," I said. "I have a dentist appointment at 3 o'clock."
I put my coat back on, paid the bill, said goodbye to Anna, and hurried out. I walked quickly towards the dentist's office. It was only when I reached his office that I realized something was wrong. My neck felt cold. My scarf! It wasn't there!
I stopped. Oh no! I must have left it in the café. I quickly turned around and walked fast back the way I came. I felt really upset. I loved that scarf.
I got back to the café. I looked at the chair where I was sitting. No scarf. My heart sank. I went to the counter. "Excuse me," I said to the woman working there. "I think I left my scarf here about ten minutes ago. It's long, purple, and made of wool."
She smiled. "Ah, yes! A purple scarf! Someone found it just after you left. Is this it?" She reached under the counter and pulled out... my beautiful deep purple scarf!
"Oh, thank you so much!" I said, feeling incredibly relieved and happy. "I'm so glad someone found it!"
I wrapped the soft, long, wide, purple scarf warmly around my neck. It felt wonderful. I had to run to make my dentist appointment, but I didn't mind. I had my favourite scarf back!
